Looking great Phil, really inspiring stuff. By the way, what size are your racing roundels and numbers. Are the roundels and numbers both 18" or are the numbers the 11" size?

You should speak to ANDYP57 about that ...maybe he can put it as an option on the website ...a pack of 4 roundalls , numbers etc to order and maybe the stick on plates to order as well ? Some period stickers would possibly go down well also...

might earn you both a few quid.....

sorry hijacked Toweds thread.......I'm gone..

No problem, I'm not that precious about my thread, any topic is welcome and open for discussion and digression.

Viatron - I'll drop you a pm about the roundels.

Look, I know you guys are fanatical about your little 4 pot 'Spyders' and are 'builders' rather than cinematographers but with modern technology available to all could you possibly club together and buy a half decent cardboard toilet roll 'inner' to place over whatever microphone you are (not) using to alleviate the wind noise on these clips (or get your IT-savvy gap year kid to do something sociable for dad?)

There was only 4 secs of decent engine 'burble' on the last of the 'Oi You Tube' clips.

Of all the lurkers/trolls out there, surely someone can put together a decent video sound clip to accompany these small (and ineffectual) cars?

(Overdubs of RR Merlin engines, while delightful to hear, will curry no favour).

)

You are welcome to overdub with the sound track of this if you want but you will have to say 'Cane it!' after 5 seconds : https://picasaweb.google.com/1156603...04141469237474

and a bit 'tappety'..*

* I can't balance the higher range with the bass range.

I asked these gap year dudes to mock me up a G46 soundtrack but they'd never seen a finished one so they couldn't.

Oh, and if personal insults are acceptable on this forum, which I didn't think they were, Nike, you see the half wit with no car making rubbish engine noises in the clip below? That's you that is.

Ha, ha, I'm sure Christian Doppler would have loved that last guy. That clip so reminds me of a skit Dave Allan did a billion years ago, I'd forgotten all about it.

Brilliant!

Yes, youtube has just about everything on it from genius to moronic. I can't get over how realistic the sound effects are from the first guy, especially his aircooled beetle dying for no apparent reason. Mine used to do just that.

The doppler effect can be very useful in my job although the American style 'whoo whoo' sirens we have these days aren't as effective at telling people which direction we're coming from than the 'nee nar' sirens of old. Having said that, when I first started as a Bobby working out of East Dereham we had a Ford Escort with a single rotating blue beacon that looked like a prop off the Tardis and a broken two tone that only made an asthmatic 'haar' sound. It was quite embarassing chasing after villains in a car going 'haar..... haar..... haar....'

You can hear the lack of doppler effect on one of Phil's youtube clips where one of my colleagues is on their way to an emergency if you skip to about 1 minute 15 seconds (it's not me I'd have remembered Phil's car). To compensate the sirens have three different settings and we often have to switch between them to attract attention when people fail to react appropriately to our approach.

Little bit of progress today. I made myself a cardboard template for the fillets to fill the gaps between the front bulkhead and the inside of the body. The same template worked for both sides with a little bit of adjustment to allow for the side to side differences. Once I'd cut the fillets out of plywood I fixed them in place with bonding paste -

I also got round to fitting the luggage bay door today. I'm rather pleased with the way that's turning out, it'll be pretty well hidden from view behind a bulkhead carpet and you'll have to move both seats forward before you can open it. I'll decide if it needs a lock of some sort at a later stage of the build -

Its nice to see some pics, quite a lot of luggage space? Do you keep reversing in and out of the garage? I don't suppose bonding paste comes in a mastic type tube?

No put pu adhesive does and for something like that it would be ideal, try Googling body kit adhesive.
