Breaking news: JLR sue Fletton for copying design and colour palette of their new flagship Range Rover -
Update: JLR lose case as Fletton product found to be more aerodynamic and judged to have better aesthetic qualities.

Hmm, turnkey cars for customers who can't quite afford a real one methinks.
A seventy thousand pound base price for the fibreglass version with a tired motor (recon is extra) is a bit much for me, especially if it's going to end up in JLR's mobile dream crusher

Reason: Still can't use pound signs.

They have been around for decades, best of luck to them, they are bucking the trend. Not been frightened away by legal agenda / propaganda floating around.

Been doing a bit of research on this one and it doesn't look like JLR actually have the C-Type design registered in the UK, which is probably why they fought their copyright case in more design focused Sweden.
In fact, when JLR tried to register their historic Series 1, 2, 3 and Defender mudplugger shapes in the UK in 2019 to try to stop a French company from building something similar their application was rejected, partly on the basis that it was ' filed in bad faith. so it's likely that an application to protect the C-Type design would go the same way if challenged -

I did find quite a few expired protected designs for Jaguar cars while I was looking for the C-Type, including this one -
https://www.registered-design.servic...k/find/2003312
...so I guess it's fair game to copy that particular shape if you wish

JLR C type litigation in Sweden
I have just seen a couple of interesting interviews With Karl Magnusson who recently won his appeal against Jaguar LandRover in the Swedish Appeal court.
They wanted to destroy his C type replica as they claimed it was in breach of copyright.
The first part details the events leading up to the original court case.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYztc_7fIxE&t=109s
Part 2 details the appeal and gives some interesting background into the legal issues and some of the arguments put forward in defence of the replica car industry.

If you would like to look into the history of this litigation it's all on the Magnussons "Save our classic car replicas" facebook page
