Default Anyone Near Gloucester????

Does anyone have a late chassis car near Gloucester who fancies bringing it down for me to have a look at?

I wnat to do some additional bracing of the chassis, as mine is an 06 early one.

I dont want to fire the welder up until i know what space i have to work with!

If you want to come help, the more the merrier. I will even supply lunch!

Not sure who has the later chassis.

But here is a list of current 5EXI owners that did not mind being put on the map!

I had the original suspension and did not experience the problems the other guys did (decelleration etc). I had the car up to 120MPH on the original and did not experience a problem. But sounded very dangerous.

I crashed the car a little while after while testing. Originally driving car without boost, found the problem. Now with boost, it cut in while in the middle of the bend and spun me without warning.

I took this opportunity to upgrade to the latter revision on the Marlin rear suispension. But was not just a bolt on and fit as the bits did not fit (brakes on the hubs etc).

It seems that every step has its own problems! Was it easy enough to sort out.

After contacting Marlin and sending pictures etc, I was blamed for not fitting them correctly! (Not alot can be wrong about fitting a caliper to a hub!)

Still not 100% though got round the problem by swapping the hubs left to right dide of the car so caliper now at the rear of the wheel if that makes sense. But rear pads do not cover as much of the disc as I would like (only half a pad in contact!)

Someone had the same problem and Marlin made alterations to the hubs.

Is it all fixed now?

What did the hubs cost you?

Pads are still any issue as I gave up asking for help.

I bought the whole rear end upgrade. Top wishbones, and hubs as part of the Marlin upgrade pack. But also upgraded the lower wishbones as well.

Can't remember exactly of the total cost. But something like £500 for the lot rings a bell. Maybe wrong though.

Also heard that Track developments are looking at a bolt on upgrade as well.

Adam

Some of us myself included have used a setup that Big Rich one of the other 5EXI owners have used, and I must say it was a great improvement to the rear setup and considerably cheaper that the Marlin option.

Addionally to Riches setup, I had new rear tie bar bolts made up in a taper format so to allow a direct replavement for the track rod end tie bar, and also spacers to allow the new tie bar to run paralel from the hub to the chasis, all in cost me around £200.

I had a long chat to Track developments who have done work on several of the owners cars to rectify the rear end issue, and when I spoke of what I had done, it was a similar fix they had used on another car.

TD are considering a retro fit new setup and would welcome a builder to be the first to try, I have considered it, but at the moment I am due to have my car setup by a local company who setup suspensions, and looking at the car feel they can make improvements. If there settings do not prove up to scratch I will be going back to TD.
