Default DVLA - bizzare but true

I got a letter from DLVA Bristol office, dated 16th Sept inviting me to bring the Cabrio for an inspection on Wednesday the 11th Sept. Amusing, a date in the past that wasn't even a Wednesday

After phoning the number, which took me to Swansea and being passed on twice to yet another call centre operative they said they would get the Bristol Office to contact me. Which they did.

Then Bristol said they had never heard of me, and couldn't answer why in that case they had written to me. So they phoned me back a bit later and said they will now inspect the car on Wednesday 23rd.

BUT you have to trailer it there
SO you can legally drive an unregistered, untaxed vehicle to an IVA test, but you can't drive to to DVLA to get it registed. How damn stupid is that?

So I've now had to hire a Disco with a tow hitch and a trailer.

Couldn't agree more... I hired a man with a covered transporter to move mine. Cost less than hiring a trailer (by the time you add in fuel costs etc) and no probs about insurance. It took the DVLA all of 5 minutes to inspect the car before deciding I was a good boy and assigning me (well the car that is - they didn't have number plates when I was born lol) an age releated plate.
