The sill sections are completely removable from the car so you can get to the sills still for repairs in the future. Rear screen is an opening plexiglass screen so no boot lose. The front inner wings are cut back as well as the radiator panel but no cutting of the chassis rails or crossmember. The front will end up looking the same as a mk2 inside. The rear end you cut and flare the arches. Rear quarters the hole for the lights is enlarged to take the new lights. A panel will be included to re seal the boot area. Again no chassis rails are cut. Hope this helps.
Thanks for reply wayne. Do you hav any pictures on the mx5 that has been modifyied before kit is fitted. I can see partly how much of the front end of the mX5 shell is removed but not the rear eand. What is the "seal" panels made of?

I hate to be a party pooper here but doesnt any cutting of a monocoque shell render the car SVA'able ?
I understand you have stressed no cutting of chassis rails but that is more about a seperate chassis'd view on the regulations like the Sammio range etc. The monocoque shell is considered to be a chassis in its entirety , so my understanding of the regs is the removal or modification of anything deemed structural relating to that shell is classed as a chassis modification ?
Please correct me if I am wrong or have missed the point here , not an expert by any means but just my interpretation of what I believe is the regulations regarding monocoques .

Hi with regard to cutting the front it's the inner front wings. Being that I have only removed as much as how a mk2 is and they are the same chassis basically I don't see it as an issue as the mk2 actually has less metal in that area. The rear again has no structural integrity removed as the main strengths on the mx5 is across the soft top mounting panel area. That's my understanding. It's like when people remove the windshield panel. In theory this offers no structural support to the car what so ever so again not an issue. So I'm sure it's fine. There are other kits out there that remove a hell of a lot more metal than mine and still don't have an iva.

Elprimer, thanx for your imput, I thought that the mX5 backbone bit that joins the gear box an d engine was classed as a chassis like in the MeV cars, but now see they need IVAing. A mate of mine has pointd me at the DVLA 8point thing and you are right when you say-about not cutting the bodyshell. Back to my herald chassis I think.

Hi Danny not yet was expecting the cat hone yesterday but it's been delayed again. Really frustrating as I have so much interest. Hopefully not long. Fingers crossed mid week.

Regards

Wayne

We have door mirrors. Taken from the Corsa D. Also in the process of fitting door handles as an optional extra. These are from the grand punto.

Its looking great Wayne
Whats left to do?
I found the hardest thing is to finish it and leave it alone, I kept tinkering with it.

Its best to finish it and start dreaming of the next.

I worked so long on mine I had stopped seeing it as a car.
But a few months of driving it about changed that

I used the same wing mirrors on my Kobra. Did you buy electric or manual? if you bought electric and have trouble wiring them give me a shout and i can point you in the right direction.
