Default 250 SWB Headlight options

I decided to proeprly cost the build today and started doing a spreadsheet in Excel. Took about 10 minutes to completely lose interest and start pissing around with Photoshop, lol!

I wondered what the various headlights might look like other than the P700's that are on the demonstrator - warning I'm not greta at sorting perspective out on photoshop but this is what it came out like...may or may not help your choices!

Obvious rear badge idea - great minds (Robbie!)

Less obvious rear badge - flip the bar on it's head...think it looks pretty good - homage but not total rip

According to the "KitCar" magazine review you can build one for £12k or have one built, "turn key" for a little under £18k !

I think you can build one at home for around £7 - 8k .

Probably - but it depends on the spec. you're happy with I guess.

Anyway with the money you save you could buy this!

I think the lucas P700 work best.

Its good that kitcar mag states them costs as im sure it is closer to £8k mark but the higher they say, the higher the end value of the car hopfully will be

Probably aligning with the Bertini market price... wonder how many of them have been sold?

The Bertini demo car has been up for sale almost a year I think - big ask on the price.

I suspect I'll be in 10.5k by the end and I'd be more than happy if I got near that when (if!) it came to sale

I know for certain that he has sold 2 Bertinis. I was speaking to one of the owners and he was criticizing the front end styling of the car. I agreed and then asked Antony Cherry, who was sat next to me, what he thought.

There was an awkward silence for a short while

Ive gone with P700s on my car. I know that they are not authentic but I like them and think that they add a little character.

I think the prices quoted for a self build at around £12k is an attempt to justify the £18k for a turn key car. Not sure if you have to supply the donor car or if thats included in your £18k investment. Either way it seems a little steep given the likely age and mileage of the BMW base car. The 320 hours build time again seems high , but again perhaps justifying the turn key option.
I think for the home builder this car is a winner and probably worth £10k + once finished.

Hahaha! Excellent lol!

God only 2? Disheartening but I'm with you though - excellent job on the rear which doesn't follow through to the front.

Same night I was chatting to the guys who do the Stratos replicas (Hawk Cars) and asked them why they referred to their kits a "Whore cars"

I may have had a glass of wine at that point

When I spoke to Antony in May he had sold 10 but he spent a small fortune making the Bertini a reality. He wants to recover the investment .

He paid people to do everything and the price reflects that he doesn't laminate them himself.

Who knows - but I think that he will be stuck with the 2 on Ebay until the price gets more realistic.

KitCar magazine quoted - that Bertinis have been selling well.

I don't believe too much that is written in the magazines anymore after all Tribute didn't get a mention in the 250swb write up

There was no mention of the hard top SWB and they talked about the Kalifornia as a replica which it isn't really. Ferrari didn't make a convertible SWB.
Shame they didn't mention Tribute or explain the connection. Talked endlessly about the autobox though !
