Default Recommended tire pressures

Hello, I recently had the new tyres replaced about two weeks ago. And thought it was a good idea to take the car to a petrol station to see if the tyres needed more air. I set the pump to 36 psi and connected it to the first tyre it was at 43 psi, the pump ended up removing air till it reached 36psi.
What is the correct pressure for these tyres? I read an article here https://drivingpress.com/is-40-psi-good-pressure/
about good tire pressure. I did drive the car 10kms back from work, parked for an hour to eat dinner and then drove to the petrol station to use the tyre pump. Would that affect the tyre pressures?
