Hooray ! 250 passed first Mot
Today our Mx 250went for its first MOT and initial outing/shake down .
Took the opportunity of taking a few pics of it on the ramp (rare opportunity lol) whilst Mot guy went off to answer phone.
Quite pleased with how it turned out as not really seen at those angles, as usually lying on floor (Or up close n personal in tight garage) working on it during very long build.
What do you think ?

Very nice TMT’s!
Great to see a few unusual angles to see the lines from. Good to see no issues either. Well done! Big thumbs up.

Paintwork looks stunning. Love the front grill, the Mondeo version often used always looks a bit clunky to me.
Exhaust looks very neat, who did them?

Well done on the MOT pass. Loving the pics also.
The way the exhausts come through the rear bodywork look s particularly excellent

Mot Passed
Thanks for all the positive comments chaps.
It's the high performance Mx5 parts twin pipe rear silencer and i made up the the bends using bought angles and joining sleeves, stainless welded at work . Mated to bought twin exit pipes , all stainless clamps.
It runs a 4-2 into 1 sports exhaust manifold , large bore de-cat pipe.
Incidentely going back to an earlier thread i posted last month about changing V5 to state new body shape. The Mot station via DVLA still had Mx5 on the their records and hence on my new certificate. Clearly not communicating.

Three years on, my Z300S Barchetta (per the DVLA record) is still tested as a BMW Z3. They do have the correct registration number that I changed just over a year ago though.

Hi Ian, Don't we just love the DVLA.
The Mot guy said ; i should be able to ring up and get the model changed. (At least it had the correct registration number same as V5, which i bought from ebay 3 years ago). Maybe thats the secret ...... wait three plus years and it all comes right.
Did you try contacting the DVLA ref Mot cert ?

Doesn't seem worth it- when I tax the car, DVLA "knows" that the MOT is valid presumably just based on the regno.
Similarly, the weight of the car is different from standard- I just read the indicator that showed the car is ~50kg lighter in its current form. I could have paid £18 for a printed ticket and sent it off...

Yes , see what you mean. Guess it only becomes relevant when we come to sell and the new potential owner spots it.

Things may have changed, but when the 'previous' computerised system at the MOT station was in place the tester had to enter the details for my Quantum at its first MOT test, and said it could never be changed - maybe details still can't be changed once they are in the MOT system?

Yes i remember the old system where your vehicle details were entered manually and you received an A5 (half A4 ?) sized hand written Mot cert from a pad usually locked in a safe. It wasn't linked to DVLA at all.
Not that many years ago either

The selling part !!! I did actually sell one of my kit cars once. It was the first Jago that I'd built. I'm not sure that the new owner appreciated it, hacked the carefully crafted dashboard about and then installed some airliner seats. I sold another Jago about 5 years ago and it became one of the first to be stripped of its Escort running gear and then scrapped.

I felt a bit guilty stripping my Locost to use the rolling chassis as my 250 TR donor. The previous owner said the car was his pride and joy and he wanted it to go to a good home !

Oh yes, the satisfaction when the oily mechanic pulled out the pad and grudgingly gave you that brown slip with the garage stamp.
Reckon they were much more likely to fail you so they could get some work out of you.
