Hello Neil, I've built a number of cars over the years. 1 from a kit, the others scratch built. It's my passion and therapy.
Years ago I was hit by a car that was stuck on full throttle and driven into 3 cars with me in between. I suffered serious leg injuries, shoulder injuries, and a head injury. The head injury has caused memory issues and some other problems. I've had 5 surgeries to walk.
Last year I had a full knee and shoulder replacement surgery scheduled. But, I had a sudden, complete blockage of the main artery to the heart. The heart attack almost did me in. It was my second one within months. I was lucky that I was close to a hospital and was able to be saved.
I'm a severe insulin dependent diabetic. I'm facing the loss of my feet, heart surgery, and the original knee and shoulder surgery, and oral surgery too! Ok, now I'm depressed. Actually, I'm trying to stay optimistic.
I've been selling off all of my projects and tools and getting my things organized for my wife and kids. I went to my shop yesterday to do some work on my Cobra but had to quit as I was experiencing chest pains.
I'm glad that you are feeling better and it's great that you are able to work some on your cars. Good luck to you. John

Neil & John - Hope you both make full recoveries.
As car building problems don't really compare with serious health issues.
Take care, Paul.

Hi all, I'm still kicking! Log book came back yesterday with the new name Triumph Cordite! A huge stepping stone as I now know that the car is legal and so this incentive is pushing me to finalise the build! I will add pics soon when my wife returns from work! Some one needs to keep me fed and to buy bits for the Cordite!

You look like you've nearly finished... Have you changed the front wings much?

Neil - Congratulations on the successful V5C change.
Your car certainly looks a lot closer to being finished than mine.
Good luck, Paul.

Hi Paul,Yes I have lowered the wheel gaps considerably as they at first looked out of balance with the rear! The rear I will work on as time goes on. The project has been enormous as we who took on the Cordite project well know it never seems to end! But I will complete it eventually! I'm filling in the bulkhead with galvanised steel taken from an old washing machine, I have most of the money spent on the engine as it is balanced and tuned to the max I just cannot wait to give the Cordite a blast down the road! Maybe not far off! I'll send more pics soon? Cheers Paul I'm enjoying your build enormosly keep plugging away!

Neil - Can you talk me through, or provide more photos for, your passenger side mirror mounting?
As I've been mocking up a pedestal for mine, to hold the mirror in a similar position to yours.
Also, if you didn't mind, I'd like to see how you hinged your bonnet too.
Cheers, Paul.

Neil - Thanks for the extra photos.
Your mirror bracket has all the hall marks of a pit line fix during a race and that is a good thing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi All! I took the Cordite for a test a while ago now! The examiner was afraid of putting my Cordite through a test as he said the body was not safely attached to the chassis! So I returned home and worked on the problem with my solution! I have now built a tube frame around the body and firmly attached the body and chassis as asked ! I have also extended the tube to make a substantial roll configuration, which helps me to get in and out and also makes me feel safer! Also I always wanted a race look more than a show car and added piano hinges on the doors when needed ! Still a few more jobs to do but at least I know now that it is ultra safe and it will pass a test when needed!

Neil - I still can't believe the way your MOT guy behaved.
After all, the original Spitfire body shell is only held on to the chassis by a few bolts.
Looking at the photo...
Does the rear of the car flip up too now?
Also, I see you have change the bonnet profile a little near the catch, was there a reason for that?
( As I still need to finalised how I will be doing this on my own car. )
Anyway, it is nice to see an update from you.
Good luck, Paul.

Hi Paul, yes the rear flips off! As I have built a extra tube subframe around the wings so it is strong! No reason for the bonnet changes just want to be different ! As usual! Also fitted a servo as my right leg is weak! Shame the rubbish summer is over but I can play with the car until then!

Cordite
Hi, after my refusal by the MOT man at my local garage this is my reaction! The result being roll cage and rear subframe all for added strength! I will go to another garage in the new year and will it pass? Happy Xmas to every one.

I like the way you have built in support for the rear wings.
Good luck, Paul.
