no, the original black tonneau was an old spitfire one I had modified to fit and we used that as a pattern. I thought it deserved a new one, so my trim guy cut and sewed and I put in all the fixings.

Very pleased with the result. thanks for all comments

Well time to say farewell to the Spyder, another project is in the wings. Advertised on Ebay and got over 9000 views, 2 people to view but car was leaking fuel, so after carb rebuild and then finding out my new fuel pump was over pressure!!. Anyway all sorted now and driving well so we'll see what interest there is.

I had an instant offer of 9000euros form Denmark when I put it on Car and Classic but I would rather not go abroad with all the Brexit taxes etc now

Any import charges would be at the buyers expense I would imagine.

After much messing around with offers from EBay, Belgium and the US, I have a firm offer form someone who has actually seen the car, so next week it's on with the Beetle project.

Turned out it was the "survivor" paint finish that was knocking the sale price, but I was never up for a £2k paint job All the best and thanks for the support and information guys, I'll keep my eyes on the forum as who knows what will follow the Beetle Mike
