Stoneliegh 2011
Who's going? Which day? (1-2nd May)
It's weather dependant for me, as I still have no weather gear for Vikki. So Sunday or Monday after advice from the weatherman. Hopefully I will have the woodwork done by then - but there won't be time to get her painted for the show.
Two years attendance without paint. I'll be a pariah and banned from the club tent.

After many years of attendance both without and with the Sportster, I won't be attending this year
However, I do plan to try and make Detling this year...

No hood either, so weather dependant for me. Wanting to take lots of pics because I have a hood but would appreciate seeing how it looks on the finished article and also need to fit wipers so will be chatting to those of you who fitted them, plus want to change the paneling by the boot area so will be taking pics and notes again.

I wouldn't worry, if I go it will be 3 years without paint for me. oh, and 3 years without fitting a spare wheel, sorting out an expansion tank, finishing the "boot", filling in the holes where I changed mirrors......

I think I'll aim for Sunday as well. Leaves Monday free to be 'sociable' with other family members.

Ooops. My aim was off - I've double booked. I'll be going on Monday now, as I'll be in Milton Keyenes cheering on the Saints in their Heineken Cup semi final against Perpingion on Sunday.
"Oh when the saints...."

Milton Key enes???
I have 'permission' to go both days now, so as long as I can find a cheap hotel with a reasonably secure carpark, I may see you Monday.

The extra 'e' is for Europe.
I hope you can make it on Monday - I'm keen to see your car (it'll be the first time in the flesh).

Don,t think you would want to se my pics Peter. I was there for the first time this year on the Sunday and its my first view of any Marlin other than my own Sportster. So my pics are all related to how other Sportsters are put together and the different methods employed for what is supposed to be the same car. Each car is unique I discovered. Had many interesting conversations with primarily Sportster owners.
One of my intentions was to source some wheel bolts for my 18 ins wheels, which was a saga you are all aware of from my previous thread. I ended up buying two different tools to do the job, but in the end sought the help of my friendly local garage who took three hours to achieve the removal of the bolts. Unfortunately the manufacturer of the wheels ceased making them three years ago along with the wheel bolts, slimline tapered tuner bolts ( I know enough about wheel bolts now to set up my own factory ). Well, there were none at the show, but one guy said he could probably source some if I called him later in the week. However, I eventually did find some on the net and am now sorted ( also have a couple of spares ). Thanks for everyones help for this problem.
I also looked at the perenial mudguard problem and other peoples solutions, I need to get some new stays as mine are the tubular type and not the solid stays otherwise they will fracture one day.
But I had a great day at the show and realised we are outnumbered in the Marlin stakes by the Cabrio's, the Roadsters and the Berlinetta's.
Glad I did not go for a sevenesque type car, ten a penny.

Hi Dennis,
I think that is one of the attractions of the Marlin Sportster.
Every car is basically the same but everyone stamps their own individuality on their own design!
Glad to hear you've sorted your wheel bolts.
Might we see you in your car at the Detling show?
