Default Big brother is steering you...

Ok - nothing to do with kit cars but I had to tell someone :-)

I have just been reading the handbook of my new (second hand) 1 series to try and make some sense of the bells and whistles and I read this

In critical situations, the car can correct the wheel turning angle resulting from the driver's steering......

Translated into normal speak I think it means that if you get into a skid the bl**dy car steers itself! How scary is that! I must check to see if it's installed on my car and how to turn it off!

Knowing the men at BMW they will designed it to steer you in to the nearest tree to do enough damage not to be a write-off but enough for the bodyshop to destroy your no claims!!!

however it will probably work as well as the Mercedes Active brakes system which is meant to stop you before you hit someone on the motorway, but as many new technology in theory !!!
