Default radiator hose??

Hi, does anyone know where I can get 30mm id rad hose from in long lengths?

The more I look at the marlin plastic tubing the more I don't like the idea of it and would rather have one piece tubing as there is less chance of something failing, especially as the plastic tubing does not have rolled edges

Cheers
Craig

Something that WK? did on their build should help.

The 'Hep2o' should have a metal insert at the ends. If you put this in, heat the end of the tube (with a blow torch or something) then press the end against a flat surface, it will give you a rolled edge.

OR

You can buy metal tubing for long cooling/rad pipework. Try somewhere like Demon Tweeks or other race parts supplier.

Craig,

The Civic engine uses 32 mm ID pipe, the rover rad is 28mm OD. I've got samco 90 deg reducers on to the radiator, then a mix of 32mm OD 316 stainless (with welding beads, cos i haven't flaring tool), and 32mm ID hose / 90 deg bends. It's very tight under the gear lever, but workable.

I ditched the plastic guff, as the ID is very small, and the last thing I want is a marginal cooling system.

Any good hydraulic hose supplier should be able to provide suitable hose / pipe. I used: http://www.hampshirehose.co.uk.

It cost me about £60 to do the lot (samco reducers were quite pricey, but I couldn't see a decent alternative).

I think Jerry went to town on his, and bought a crate of samco, possibly from www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk (pretty close to him).

Cheers,

John.

Craig

On my previous car I used a company called THHS Ltd, on line as www.thhs.co.uk they have a PDF file catalogue, you can buy a variety of sizes of pipe, and they also make bespoke sizes very reasonably. I have used their heater hose on the Marlin, looking ok.
