Default Tribute BMW 507ESQ

I can't see this mentioned anywhere else, but I thought Tribute's new car was looking interesting. I like a replica which uses the original manufacturer's car as a basis so it actually has the right to wear the badge!

That low sill on the Z3 causes its usual problem to the shape, but I think it could be a nice classic-looking car. There's some photoshop going on with these images (the front grille, bumpers, wheels and rear lights especially- I think it's just a photo of a 250 SWB kit that's then been altered in fact) but hopefully the finished thing looks as good.

Looks great....... would look even better if they could add the original style swage line down the side....

I like it but wonder about the bumpers. Metal and chrome can add up quickly and almost equal the cost of the kit.

There are probably a few options that would work, Triumph Stag bumpers look very similar and are cheap to buy. Ollie is right, the swage line down the side would add to the illusion.

Didn’t the DNA have some way of doing chromed bumpers in GRP?
I’ve no idea how they’d do the grille though.

Personally I think the windscreen surround really needs to be chrome too, but you can do that with vinyl can’t you?

According to the Tribute Facebook page, Chris is close to taking a mould and offering body kits. The resto mod style such as in my previous post could lend itself well to the final look.

I noticed that too.
Looks okay in red, but amazing in black with the red roof.
The rear bumper looks a little oversized, but maybe the originals was as well?
It’s nice seeing something other than wire wheels too.
Can’t wait to see this one take the next step.

A chap called Dan has taken early delivery and building one in red gel-coat currently. He is posting progress pics on the Tribute Owners FB group.

Article in DM today about a 507 that has been untouched for 40 years. Great pictures showing interior and all the small details.

Some great photo's there !
I'm really liking the Restomod style renditions that are online. This one is standing out for me, lowered a couple of inches, American Racing wheels , 8"-15" with some chunky tyres setting it off !

Thanks for posting the link Ian. This forum has died a death since potential new members weren't allowed to join in. There must be lots of new builds going on but not on here ! Perhaps its time for JG to review the situation .

You're welcome. I understand the situation. I try to look on here every day just in case...
The build looks good- in polished gel coat red at present. I'll be interested to know where appropriate bumpers come from.

I check in a couple of times a week these days. Probably a hard core of around 20 regular posters at most these days. Only a couple of active build threads going on at the moment ! I'd post my current build but it isn't really kitcar, more custom car ! Is anyone interested in my take on a Mini Beach Car ?

Of course- we are all madabout-kitcars. Might be difficult to categorise though...

Just for you Ian, here is a write up of an original Mini Beach Car from the 1960's, one of 16. My car is a modern take on the original design based on a 2003 Mini One. Photos to follow, maybe a new thread too !
