We are very pleased to announce that we finally have a Ribble Kits logo!

Created by a very talented local artist Wayne Ashworth, we are very pleased with the final design.

We will be looking to have bonnet badges made, Steering wheel centre, wheel hub centres and our 'uniform' t-shirts and replacement racing style overalls made with the logo on in the very near future!

The wreaths are a fitting tribute to our triumph based range...

Default Humps

We've been asked several times whether the new humps produced for the Navigator will fit on the Pilot body. Now we have a pair in the workshop I'm glad to say they do. A couple of photos to show a Left Hand hump in place which also gives a good comparison to the original hump as still moulded into the Pilot shell:

This shortening would have an advantage to those builders wanting to add a luggage compartment at the rear of their car without intruding on the humped area.

Looking good, but looking much lower. How high is the front face compared to the original?

The Navigator hump is 6" high by 27" long as opposed to the original Pilot hump being 8" high and 35" long.

Default No Delay!

Due to an overseas customer delaying his order until the new year , I have a Pilot body here in the workshop ready for immediate collection if anyone is interested at the usual price of £999.00.

If required, a frame can also be sorted within a week. (The original order was for a Pilot CV so included the 2CV framework)

It's never too cold to start a project and think of the progress you could make whilst the rest of the family is watching Sound of Music over Xmas

PM me for details

Default Tax Discs

Noticed in the BBC web news this morning:

The tax disc to show motorists have paid vehicle excise duty is to be replaced with an electronic system, Chancellor George Osborne is to announce in his Autumn Statement.

The disc was introduced in 1921 but officials say it is no longer needed with the DVLA and police now relying on an electronic register.

The new system will allow people to pay the charge by monthly direct debit.

The Treasury said it showed government was moving "into the modern age".

It would also make "dealing with government more hassle free", a spokesman added.

The changes are expected to come into effect in October 2014.

I, for one, look forward to paying £0.00 per month by direct debit

When I was a student in Liverpool in the darkest days of Derek Hatton, I used to get a monthly housing benefit cheque for £0.00, posted to me with a 2nd class stamp. I still have all 12 of them.

I bet DVLA will still send us a threatening reminder for the unpaid £0.00

I'm guessing that new Police powers to seize untaxed vehicles could also be on the cards. At the moment all we can do is submit a form to DVLA for them to commence prosecution - their fines are enormous though - typically £1,000 + a multiple of all the unpaid back tax which can tot up to around £3,000. That's much higher than anything we can dish out

We'll probably start seeing notes in Reliant windscreens too - tax in email.

Although strictly speaking these photos belong in the build thread, we have just received the bonnet and humps back from Paint shop so have the first 'in colour' photos of the Navigator to give a good idea of the finished product. I reckon the twin humps look good and in this case are going to be removable. This has given rise to a spare 'Camera Hump' being fabricated with a wirelessly operated 'Go-Pro' camera embedded in it. The bonnet (raised a little high on these photos due to being propped on a tyre) gives plenty of clearance for the 2Ltr 6-pot which gave us problems with the Pilot bonnet previously fitted.
Now on with the build

That looks very nice. And, what is that swoopy shape in the workshop in front of your new baby?

Oh this little Feller:

without doubt the oldest project in the shop. Born in 1939, it's had a racing life of nearly 75 Years! We're fixing it to use as a buck for the owner to continue racing with new shells. Now you've a good view of it, before I reveal what it is, and the base car on which it is built, any ideas gents?
