I learnt an important lesson yesterday, test the starter motor before putting the engine in the car and if the nuts have rounded edges replace them.
I wired up the solenod/starter motor a couple of days ago and got a click, the next day nothing. So I decided to take it out and do a bench test. Taking it out, due to the state of the nut/bolts took most of the day, the cramped space available ment I had to drill the nut and crack it with a cold chisel, not ideal, anyway go it off.
Tested it, one big spark later it came to life. It is now back in place wth new fastenings and turns the engine over
My engine has only ever run on leaded petrol and has never been converted to unleaded. I understand it is a fairly simple procedure but I not sure what is exactly required, has anybody converted a M20/320i engine to unleaded?
I suppose I should order a prop-shaft now.
