Default Thinking of a Sportster

Hello,

Just joined as I'm beginning to get itchy feet for a Marlin again. I built a SWB Cabrio in 1993 and sold it 5 years ago. This time I fancy a Sportster, but don't really want to build/IVA one. Anyone know of any older Sportster's that are built, registered but may need some TLC?

Thanks

Andrew

Not aware of any registered Sportsters for sale, but there is a part built on ebay - good engine (rebuilt M50B25), but still looks expensive considering the Marlin Part 3 kit, work, and paint job left to complete it?

Thanks for that Mike, I've had a look but I'm not sure I have the time to build a kit again, plus I'm none too sure about an IVA test. I put a scratch built trike through MSVA back in 2006 and that was stressful/frustrating enough. I have emailed Marlin for the Sportster price list though so I can get an idea of how much more the remaining bits would cost.

Has anyone got a rough guide range for current Sportster prices?

The other thing I've been thinking about is trying to track down my old Cabrio - CRN540Y is still on the road according to the DVLA tracker.

But I like the idea of a Sportster as being a poor mans Kougar (which is itself a bit of a poor mans HWM/Alta)

I will be selling my Sportster soon as I have a new toy. Doesn't fit into the "needs TLC" catagory though. It's had plenty of that already. Plenty of pictures and a build thread somewhere on this forum.

Cheers, Robin

Hello Robin,

Looks like a cracking well built car. Do you want to PM me what you'd be looking for it?
