what brake fluid should I top up with, appears to be pink.

I would be asking why do I need to top up? The brake system should not loose any fluid. If it needs topped up that would indicate to me that you have a leak some where, have you noticed the level drop at all? Also I have never seen pink brake fluid maybe a specific manufacturer.... If unsure then replace the whole lot, flush through with dot 3 or dot 4 ( depending on what donor braking system you are using) and check for any leaks at the same time!

sorry about query, it is dot 4, only took a spoonful to come up to mark, no sign anywhere of leaks. thank you for your help.
