Default You're wrong

Sorry mate, but you are wrong. I'm not local, but that looks like the outskirts of Dorset to me. They caught Garry testing the prototype of the next Sammio!!!!

No, I've got a soft spot for early 'streamliners' too.

Not sure if the link will work but take a look at this VW/Porsche Berlin to Rome record breaking car. I believe it's recently been rebuilt and is back on the road.

Another simple question..
As there wasn't one fitted to my car when I collected it, could someone tell me where the Engine is earthed to the frame? I seem to remember from way back when, a lead going from the bell housing but where does it terminate (on the bulkhead?)

My Vitesse has a bonding lead bolted to the front edge of the sump cover and attached to the front cross-member.

Default Next phase!

I've just waved goodbye to the Moon Rover which is, as I type, making its way down to sunny (well last I heard it was raining actually ) Dorset.

Took the obligatory 'loon shot'

And the loading too:

Then waved it on its way:

the drive looks eerily vacant now but there's still loads to do getting prepared for its return. A shopping experience at Stoneleigh will get the lights and some interior detail bought and I've got to deliver the seats to an upholsterers I've found.

Things may be a tad quiet on this thread for a couple of weeks but I'll be here anyway. Can't wait now till the painted Spyder comes back to roost

bye bye Preston Sammio - for now - or should I say HELLO as is will be about 3 miles from me here in wet and windy Poole!

I might even go over and take a sneaky look while it is there...

my thread is quiet too, but that is more to the fact that I am doing the rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler, rub down, filler thing.........

Is that your Spitfire hiding in the picture? Are we to expect a Cordite as well soon? :-)

I wish I did drive it on but no, the winch got it there as the Engine still hasn't been anywhere near fuel! I did steer it on though

You're right Ash, the Spitfire hiding in the background is destined to be a Cordite soon. I'll be taking a different tack on that one though as, unlike the Vitesse donor for the Spyder, it has a valid MoT and runs well so I'll be doing a simple conversion and building in some patina. It will be interesting to see how long that conversion takes. I've just been looking at local units with a very reasonable rent to carry out my builds as I'm well and truly hooked now

I hope that you have more luck than I did Andy. I was looking for a small unit locally also and could find nothing unless I paid around £3-400pcm, although I didnt look as far north a Preston.

Found one at £260 a month with enough room for three cars! Only 2 miles from door to door with Heating, lighting and lecky all in

And I get the keys tomorrow!

Wow, thats a good deal. I was looking at £300 a month for just enough space for one car (maybe 2 at a squeeze) without the bills!

I will look forward to seeing a lot more Sammios in the north west!

Andy, that was quick 3.11pm you thinking about it... now you're moving in!
You'll have room for a lot more tools.

No point in hanging about with a rent like that! One phone call and it was mine. I can move the heavy stuff in as soon as I like and still do the little fiddly bits like carbs in my home workshop

Hi Andy,
When it comes back you need to swap the master cylinder towers over. The one with the reinforcement flange should be on the brake.

Well , its here !!

The Moon Rover has landed ....just like the one on the moon or Arizona desert ( you decide !!)

I have been notably absent this week as we are obviously gearing up for Stoneleigh amongst other things but we have got a bit done on this car , Patrices and Barry Mays ...

I have mounted the handbrake compensator and Morris lever...

Mike fitted a Battery tray to the bulkhead ....tight fit and sikkoflex as well as flowcoating it to keep it looking pretty...

floorpans fitted down and trimmed a little...

Body made , bonnet being done as I type - hopefully !!

pics to follow Monday ...

And whilst Gary was doing all this, I went a little mad
so meet Betsy, the next potential donor...

At this point I must explain... no maybe I can't, I'm just completely bonkers
Having seen this little gem only 20 miles from home having not a single bid on eBay, I contacted the seller after the auction ended with a 'no sale' with what I thought was a cheeky offer and after some thought he accepted it!

I've just been over to collect it, drove it back to the unit and am severely impressed. It starts well, ticks over like a sewing machine and although the speedo doesn't work, my lad reports I was cruising the coast road at around 65mph.

Plan is to get it down to the chassis and make an assessment as to whether it goes completely as spares or becomes another Spyder.

By the way, what do you think of these 'triumph world' hub caps!

That certainly looks tidy Andy ......

Nice little 1200....I think you know what I think you should do .....!!!!

unit looks tidy as well.......

I think we can argue that you may have lost the plot !! '' It's just a bit of Sammio ....I can handle it ! ''

Would make a cool little car for the boy !
