Well done, Robin, that is really good progress.
You are certainly catching me!

I like the headlamp brackets. It stops the debate of putting them on the front or back and solves the height problem.

Yeh - it's fitted. Bonnet would be a bit floppy without it!

I am actually thinking about fitting one at the top of each side bonnet as well as they feel very flimsy, particularly with all those louvers stamped in them.

Cheers

You wait 'till you have to fit and tightnen up the 40 little bolts, nylocks and washers!
Anyway, that's looking really good, you must be pleased with the progress.
Rather you than me cutting those panels by hand!
Only the other bonnet to go, which is just as tricky as it has to match the first one!

cheers

Peter

Default Bonnet complete!

Small update with bonnet fitting complete. It's only taken me a month - but I have made some bonnets stays which took a little ingenuity to complete.

Pictures as usual here http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/martinclan/pictures7.htm

Well done with the bonnets, Robin.
Nice idea with the bonnet stay. Does it clip on somewhere when closed or do you remove it completely?

At the lower end the stay is threaded M5 and screws into a rivnut on the little bracket I made. This allows it to rotate up to fit in the hole in the bonnet, and down parallel to the top of the side bonnet where it (will) clip into a clip I haven't made yet :-)

I'll post up some better pictures.

Nice progress, Robin.
Those lights and Alpina's will look really smart.
I have 32mm spacers on the back and 10mm on the front, but it will depend on what ET your wheels are. I assumed my backs are set back further because I have the 320i drum brakes but it looks like yours are the same.
I have a spare set of the 32mm spacers (they are only cheap ones). If you want to try them send me a pm.

My wheels have 30mm spacers per side at the back, nothing at the front as a comparison, I could have easily put an extra 5mm in at the back

Hi Robin,

Nice boot!

Just checked my picture file and I was at this stage in July 2007. I was even trying out my new alloys in the same month!
But I hadn't tackled the bonnets at that stage.

So at my pace, you have about 9 months to go

7.5j. Although I don't think they will need spacers to avoid the bodywork they may need them to fill the wings properly.

Yeah, they do look better spaced out to the edge of the wings. The top of the wheels comes in quite far at the top once it's sat will all the weight on it, mine rubbed once it was on the floor. But then my Sportster is very low at the back on those coil overs.
