Default Enthusiasm hits brick wall of ignorance - help?

Today I woke up at midday after a weekend hosting the Big Bike Bash (www.bigbikebash.co.uk) and thought I would play with the inlet manifold. i carefully read loads of internet descriptions about how to remove the manifold and then some adaptation you need to make to fit the new one.

After a couple of hours I finally managed to get the inlet manifold removed. i will give full details in a vblog when (if) I finish.

I now have a very simple question. Which throttle body do I now put back on? The old one and new ones are different. I guess the new one will fit the new manifold more easily but the old one will fit the rest of the car better. There is also a very different bit that might be some kind of oil trap which doesn't appear to fit the new manifold at all.

Some photos to help show you what I mean.

If the old bit goes on the new manifold, what do I do about gaskets? The old one had the gasket in the manifold while the new one has it in the throttle body.

If it was a Webber or SU carb set up I might have been able to help. Not really up to speed with the modern stuff !

It is the same principle.

You are changing the inlet, do you keep the old carb and make it fit the new inlet or fit the new carb and make the other bits fit the new carb.

Think outside the 'must be controlled by computers' mind set. You can post stuff on the Internet for Christ sake!

:-)

For what its worth try

Fitting the old one to the new manifold, the gasket issue can be ignored or make one out of a thin bit of metal with the right holes / slots

ignore the oil trap for the moment it must be part of the crankcase breather recycling set up

Thanks PP. that was my hope. Less faffing getting the rest to fit.

There are enough challenges without making the throttle cable long and twist through another ninety degrees.

More questions when I hit the next hurdle.

I will post a proper(ish) video so you can learn from my mistakes.
