I have some history of Hot Rods and Kustoms in my past vehicle ownership. I hadn't been into that "scene" for some years, but this year's day trip to the Goodwood Revival, where I drooled over Lord March's bare metal 1932 Ford pickup Hot Rod, reminded me why I loved that style of car. I now had a hankering...
After talking to a friend about the rekindled interest he pointed me in the direction of a couple of guys in Bridport, quite local to our workshop. Jon and Russell at Hardy County Hot Rods (
http://www.hardycountyhotrods.com) had just what I needed.
I have started to mount the panels on an unmodified 1970's Lotus Elite backbone chassis with cut down GRP floorpan. Wheels are TR3/6 steels (banded on the rear) and engine and gearbox will come from a Volvo 940 2.3 Turbo. I will be trying to fit a few hours in each week and hope to get the truck up and running in a "rough" form in the next couple of months.
