Default To Swirl Pot or not to Swirl Pot that is the question...

I have got to the point now where I am connecting up the engine to the electrics and fuel supply and the use of a swirl pot is causing me to think hard.

I am a bit concerned about using the Marlin supplied swirl pot (really a surge tank) as

1. It is mounted on the bulkhead with the battery one side and the fuse box the other. I not sure that the SVA people will be to keen on this mixture of fuel and electrics.

2. It means using two fuel pumps and lots of extra connections in the fuel system - all more to go wrong.

I am now thinking about modifying my fuel tank to add a baffle instead. OK so its gonna cost (more) money but I am beginning to think it might be the better solution. What do you all think? Come on lets have some good discussion on this!!

Regards

Robin

I've decided to go without the "swirl pot" for now. I figure if it is an issue I can always add one later and if I do add one it will be a full 1.5ltr one not a coke can. As you've said I also dont like the idea of putting the fuel system right up next to the electrical.

Im also thinking about not using the Marlin tank and getting something else instead.

One a side note how did you attach your pipes to the tank? Can you get adapter, my pipes are 8mm?

I've been thinking about the tank issue this weekend. While looking though car builder solutions (http://www.nfauto.co.uk)

I saw this stuff - fuel tank foam:

I wonder if this would solve the baffle issue with the Marlin tank. I know of a company near me that can do aly welding so I could get the to open it up an install this.

What do you think?
