Default For sale: Rear AVO shocks

Sold now

Now that I've bought coil overs I dont need the rear AVO roadsport shocks I bought at the begining of the build. If anyone would like them I've got them up forsale £100 shipped or £90 collected - not been on the road just on the car during the build

Can you let me know how the coil-overs work for you?
And where you can buy them?

I don't really like the idea of deforming the original springs or buying new ones with new shocks to match.

I got them from Gaz shocks, they are for the E30. The only problem is that the rear shock towers are not quite wide enough to use them safely (trailing arm bush deformation under load so they are likely to move a bit) So I'm planning on widening them a bit.

Robin (MartinClan) amoung others has done a lot of research on spring rates for the E30 based sportster in this thread: http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...read.php?t=551

Patrick,

I've just had a quote from Spax for 2 coilover shocks for the rear.

£320 + p&p.

How does that compare with the ones you have?

Rob.

It was a total of £307.85 including shipping. It broke down like this:

E30 Coil over shock 83.64460 per unit
Springs 16 per unit
Top mount modification 52.71
Postage 10.

I sent them the new top mounts I had bought for the car and they removed the rubber and added a ball joint and bolted them up to the shock.

You will need to widen the rear towers a little so that there is enough clearance. I just a semi circle out the bottom and used a jack to widen the tower a little. The fiber glass shell might need a bit chopping out too but ive not got that far yet!

Excellent glad they arrived safely!

Get the E46 M3 convertible top mounts, much stronger than your standard E30 item.

EDIT: part no is . 33 52 6 754 096 and are no more expensive than the stand E30 ones
