Default Rear hub wobble??

Hi I have had my car jacked up today to try and get the handbrake working better!

I put the car in gear to get the wheels rotating so as to apply the handbrake and get some wear into the brakes.

Anyway as soon as the wheels start to rotate there is an aweful vibration from the rear end!!
I have noticed that the wheel hubs rotate off center to the upright!!!

Anyone know why that is?? on the axle stands at 500rpm it's almost enough vibration to pop off the stands

Can't imagine what this will be like at speed and don't understand what is causing it??

Advice needed

Craig

Craig

The only thing I can think of is that as the suspension is at full hang, I assume, this must cause some sort of missalignent, or at least unecessary pressure on the drive shaft joints, otherwise nothing springs to mind.

Just a thought, were the disks milled out in the centre, to ensure a good fit on the drive flange?

Hi Steve, the hub was machined so that I did not have to get it done again every time I bought new discs!

I jacked my mondeo up afterwards and that was perfect! revved to 2k in 4th gear so about 60-70 mph and no vibration....

Craig,

Do the same again with the Marlin, but take the wheels off, replace the wheel nuts (to clamp the disc against the hub face), and watch the caliper on the sliders. The caliper shouldn't move relative to the sliders.

I can't see why you should have a geometry issue - as you know I ran my car like you described, and there was no vibration.

Did you ever try your discs with the outboard edge against the hub face (i.e around the wrong way), to be certain that enough material was removed from the hub to ensure the discs sit flat against the hub face?
