Default wiring for aftermarket rev counter

hi, just brought a rev counter off ebay no wiring diagram,i have 4 wires coming out of the back,black red white and green,it says on the packaging its meant for ele ignition, it also has illiumination built in any idea,s what goes where, cheers

I'm guessing the black will be an earth... But apart from that, it's anyone's guess.

One wire will be for the gauge illumination, which should be wired (like all the other instrumentation lights) to the main light switch so they come on as you turn the car lights on.

The others will be +12v & the pulse signal from the ECU or from the negative side of the coil.

The best bet is to ask the vendor on eBay. If the diagram is missing, they'll more than likely be able to send you a copy. Or tell you the make so you can go and download one from the manufacturers website.

Just done a google. If it's an autometer gauge, these are the connections:

Red +
Black -
Green coil/ecu pulse
White dash lights

that seems to be the general advice, l,ll give it ago monday, it only cost me a tenner so no big deal if it goes bang ,as long as me speedster dont go up as well,cheers

hi bonerp,youre cars looking good,what colour are you painting it,when do you think you,ll have it on the road,im taking a month of work ,so im going to give mine a big push,nice to get the iva before summer, l,ll see if i can send some pictures over to you,have you checked out the speedsters on u tube,watch them gives you a bit of inspiration to get it finished,keep up the good work,

Yes have seen the vids they are useful. Hoping to iva mine in March with intention of driving to stone Leigh. Doing it in condor yellow. How about yours? I'm using mx5 seats for the test and got iva mirrors, fogs, steering wheel etc so if you need them I may be able to help post testing of mine.?
