Default New IVA Fog Light Requirement

Just when I thought I had completed my wiring the IVA has changed!

Fog lights must now go off with the main lights, and not come back on unless deliberately switched on.

Mine are wired from the main light circuit to the fog switch, so will come back on if left on inadvertly.

Does anyone know what type of relay/circuit is required to provide the solution?
Would a latched relay work? - if so, anyone recommend one?

Mike

Hi Mike,

not heard about this one!

But there seems to be some confusion what is actually required?

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/view...php?tid=183457

Can you post all of the new requirement or a link to where the latest manual is?

thanks, Peter

Hi Peter

There have been 35 revision notes to the IVA manual dated 17 June 2013. The fog light switch change has been the one that has been picked up - I have not had time to check through all the other revisions: lets hope they are generally clarification revisions!

Cheers - good advice. There is a video by MK Indy, which demonstrates this little device perfectly.
I've ordered one, but costs £40 with switch and p&p!
Easier than trying (and failing) to do it myself!

Why doesn't this install as a viewable video?, - rather than just this link?

Only need he switch if you have a momentary switch which it won't work with.

Basically the new rule states that if you have turned on your rear fog light, then either turn the main lights off or ignition off, when turning either back on, the rear fog is inoperable. So therefore you will have to switch off and on the fog again

Just a something I noticed on the Cartek web site - they state their switch doesn't work with LED type fog light units.

- perhaps this will be a development? I was thinking of fitting LEDS on my next project.
