No reason at all Nick - I do like the S type shape you suggested.

Danny - the elise lights are the same size as the fiat lamps I started with and they look too small.

Roadster - Based on the way your front end has evolved, I am sure the rear will look great which ever way you end up going.

Good luck, Paul.

Thanks Paul
The pics of your car out on the road and the talks of possible forum gatherings are motivating me to get it done.
That and the good weather will be gone soon.
Its my Birthday so I treated myself after work and visited the workshop.
In true Jaguar concept tradition, the work is happening mainly after hours.
I now consider the workshop as "skunkworks" the legendry special aircraft to come out of Lockheed Martin were also developed after hours away from the main production.

I managed to get a few hours before the sunset.

The eagle eyed among you will see that a crack has appeared around the power bulge.
Chris and Dan will glass it back together when they get a chance.

Im looking forward to the views over the bonnet.

That front is looking very nice, the same as Joe´s Alf GT in the background.

Looking at the D type nose on the right of the photo gave me an idea for the rear.
As Pharrell Williams says in his song "It might seem crazy what I'm about to say" so here goes.
How about using part of a front end to create a new style rear end?

It looks different but I don´t know if it has ever been done before.
Crazy or possible?

Its not such a far fetched idea
Dsg posting the Panzani rear reminded me how much I liked the xk180 and f type concept rear.
I wasn't going to go so wild and thought that just taking the oval to be the number plate recess might add more to the rear.

When I looked at the Jag's I realised that they had used the front bumper to form the rear.

I had the earlier xk bumper that I had sectioned before opting for the late one for the front, so I bolted it on.
It had potential, the curves were close.
I used this shape to "paint" the pictures on the previous page.
But to me I felt it had a "droopy arse" ie it started to resemble a boxter rear.
I did give it 10 minutes attention on my last visit and after relooking at it I got this idea to flip the bumper over.

A bit of trimming and a lot of filler and it would be close.

Maybe a splash mould could be taken and then bonded onto the z300 rear

After the inverted bumper is blended in

That's a fair shout
The Z300 boot lid doesn't come with the hole cut so its an easy omission.

Roadster - It looks like you have cracked the rear.

Although if you really want a 3rd brake light, would it fit in the spoiler?

Good Luck, Paul.

PS
Is that the new 275 in the background.

It looks like it has the same filler cap/ boot lid mod that Lancelot Link did on this SWB 250.

Paul the red car in the background is a 5 year old mx250 gto
I like the idea of the 3rd light in the spoiler - china has some very slim units now.

I hope its ready for summer 2017 and I can tag along on a jaunt or two

I just spotted this build on Youtube.
I apologise for the annoying soundtrack but please bare with it.
Its a Z3 into the concept cobra that was an inspiration on the original concept.
I partly like the result.
I was always worried when we started creating the huge grille opening and even though I like the front, im happy I went in another direction

This popped up as next to play on youtube and I rather like it -

Just needs the interior and wheels changing and it'd be quite convincing.

I like the SL, not quite right but still quite nice.

The Z3 does seem to lend itself nicely to body kits.

I wonder how hard it would be to get it IVA approved if the windscreen was chopped and a replacement fitted. It does seem to be a limiting factor.

Nice find Mr T
I confess I hate chrome on modern cars, but those bumpers look great on that.

Not a convincing replica but a pretty car none the less.
