be very carefull about anything on ebay that does not look like the car its registered as, for instance, a formula 7 on a dutton plate is not a dutton, , to be a dutton, it has to have the proper chassis as supplied from the factory, and look like what the car was designed as, limited mods on bodywork are acceptable, but if its a clone, ei a modern kit car on a dutton V5, thats illegal and the car will be removed from the road by DVLA when you try to get it inspected or moted the Dutton Owners club do keep an eye out for these sort of cars, and have contacts at dvla who do take cars off the road when their registration can not be prooved

Cheers Martin I was beginning to think that I was the only one who cared. There do seem to be a few dodgy sales at the moment.

some of the owners clubs are very active in stopping cloning of car registrations, Robin hood, and the DOC being just 2 of them, the problem is this, older kit cars are worth more for their ford escort parts than as cars, with IVA costing £1000 + some people are buying old kit cars, selling on the ford bits, selling the V5, or putting it onto another car to avoid having to IVA a car. we often get cars coming up that only 6 months ago were complete on ebay, with a v5, and 6 months down the line they come up as unfinished projects, minus the V5 and the vin plate, mine was such, except that in my case, the chassis had been stamped with the chassis number, and we had evidence that my car was once registered, so with the clubs help , i got my registration back, and a ringer , in this case a locost was taken off the road, the owner done, and charged ,and the car then had to go though IVA he sold it, rather than iva it, so what does that tell you
