No, it is not going to be a coffee table as loads of people have them, it is going to be a wine holder.

The wine bottles go in the cylinders.
There will be an ice/water tray going through the middle where the wood it at the moment to chill the wine if necessary.
There will be a copper glass holder at one end and a slate table at the other.
I will probably change the base for a better looking piece of wood but that is what I had lying around.

Should look something like this

But with the glass holder looking more like

I wanted a V12, W8 or W16 but they were either not there, too expensive or too heavy so ended up with the trusty rover block.

I am sure you are all eager for me to keep you posted on progress

You could have cutout's around the outside of the top for glasses to hang up side down? Or perhaps something made out of wood to go over what you already have to hide the top fixings...oh and some led lighting...oops I'm getting carried away now Great job!

The slate top is going to be replaced by a much lower glass top that will rest on bolt heads fixed to the block.

The slate is either too high or blocks the view of the engine top.

It should at least be water cooled!! - If you want chilled wine then it comes with plastic water bottles that you freeze and place inside the cylinders to cool them prior to replacing them with the wine bottles.

Normally white wine should be stored cool and dark but not chilled until shortly before serving.

As "room temperature" for red should be the 14-16 degrees typical of pre industrialised homes, what should whites really be served at? 12? Mortuary fridges are typically 10 degrees, not that any of this has to do with V8s. A very nice side table when watching TV anyway.

Look at the clock, it is resting on a 'timing' chain.

Look at the beer, it is alcohol free driving beer in an engine

Humour and irony in art

When you mentioned the clock, I thought you had done something with THE clock. Sadly not.
