Hi,
I have just been told about another Campsite nearby where the owner is trying to encourage car meets etc. It has clubhouse , swimming pool , etc. but is smaller than the Sandford one with less facilities.

Question is , do you prefer the bigger commercial style park with our own area or would the more intimate site be more appealing ?

Somewhere with a shed/barn/sheltered parking bit for overnight would be a win!

Although if there's not then i'll just have to dig out my tarpaulin.

What we need is a row of perambulator garages

Right , whilst waiting for a customer earlier , I shot across to Sandford as they opened last week for a Scooter Rally...

Basically , we need to book a minimum of 10 pitches to get the Rally Discount.

Price is £16.50 for the pitch including mains hook up , if required. That's per night and includes access to everything on site , crazy golf , indoor and outdoor pools , clubhouse , entertainment , bars etc etc.

If we can't get 10 bookings then its £25 per night.

If we get close to 10 , I will make up the difference to get the Rally rate....

I have provisionally booked a space at the back in a little valley/dip ....it is close to the new shower blocks that are actually pretty civilized and because its set on lower ground , feels a bit exclusive ....it has a road leading into it with pitches on both sides , so its a nice layout.....private but not too far away from everything.

The weekend we have discussed is the last one in June ....maximum daylight and chance of decent weather without getting into the school holiday period.

So thats Saturday 30th / Sunday 1st July...

Anyone is welcome , car or not , builder or not , all weekend , an hour or two whatever.....

An indication of camping numbers would be useful please , so I can start proceedings proper....

I had an day off today - I know cheeky git aint I !! - and took Sam out for the morning ....I used the oppurtunity of having a child with me to trespass at Sandford for a few hours .....

After a period of time spent on the slides , ball pit , swings , rope walk etc...( I even let Sam have a go sometimes as well !! ) we went up to 'top field' to remind myself of the camping area....

The camp is mildly busy and this area was deserted !! Perfect !

Took a couple of pics to give you an idea of the layout....The camping is both sides of a single track road which loops round in an oval taking you up to the showers etc with a little sideroad bit coming off of it .....bit like an Oval track and pit area ! but I didn't say that !

I am going to reserve 5 pitches either side of the road at the bottom end , nearest the steps to the showers and quieter.....

I last camped there properly about 8 years ago , with this nice little outfit now residing in Austria and somewhere East Coast

I'm afraid it's a no from me Gary. I'm working that weekend and there are leave restrictions due to the run up to the olympics.
