Default Buggy shocks.. suggestions?

Hello All,

I've been wanting to build a buggy for a long time, the Ariel nomad then came along and further inspired me.... I've finally cleared my bikes and have room in my garage, so time to make a start.

The only thing I'm struggling to get straight in my head is the suspension, I'm not worried about designing the suspension, as complex as that is, it's just time, planning and research.

What I want is shocks that can cope with off road abuse, and won't break the bank to buy.

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this? Competition spec suspension usually needs rebuilding after every event and it'll stall the build while I save up for it!

It'll be rover k powered, I've considered a set of motocross monoshocks.. They would in theory work well as long as I could match the spring rates, but I'm half wonder ing if I'm overthinking it.

Maybe some relatively inexpensive aftermarket coilover from something with relatively long travel suspension could work?

I'm not after sand rail suspension, I'm not planning to go rock climbing, planning more gravel / rally type driving..

Apologies for my ramblings, I would appreciate some thoughts on this to help with the mental mulling over of what sort of shocks I'll need..
