Default Engine choice

My Cabrio Ebay purchase is making very slow progress-I have decided that the engine is not worth rescuing since it had been stored underwater! My first thought was BMW but then I started worrying about the weight-so I am now looking at Zetec and Duratec. Are there any problems waiting to bite me with either of these engines?
