Default Whats it like to drive.

Hello, this is Dave with car 48. I have done a few hundred miles now after doing some fettling to the car.It drives beautifully and thats from a man who has owned 9 Lotus cars over 30 yrs. The handling is superb but then the front suspension from the truimph was lifted straight onto the Elan and that was a fantastic handling car. My car is based on the 13/60 and I have fitted twin SU carbs, a bespoke exhaust, electronic ignition and I assess my 1300 engine is giving 75/80 BHP.
Some of you may interested in the weight of the finished car.I weighed it today at the weighbridge and in came at 670kg.The original car was 838 KG,that means it weighs 20% less now.
Acceleration once your into 2nd , 3rd , 4th was a pleasant surprise it goes well and feels tight and safe going briskly round country roads. On the motorway even with no 5th gear it kept up with modern traffic well.
No servo, but you get used to the pedal after a bit, the brakes are good.
The real deal though, is the driving experience, its an adventure every time you go out and you do not want to go home, it puts a smile on your face.Add at least half an hour on every trip, because people just love it and you can't get away without a chat. My opinion of the car is, I love it, there no better car if your into the bygone age and motoring as it should be. Happy Driving and I hope to see another car soon.

hi Dave, and congratulations on getting number 48!

Sounds like you are having fun in the car, which is what it is all about..

Hopefully I will be getting mine on the road in the next few weeks, so I am praying that this is the start of a very long and hot summer of fun!

Welcome aboard by the way, I am sure the other 'inmates' will be along soon!

Yes, it's a big welcome from me too. Glad to hear you're enjoying your Spyder and I hope to be out and about in mine in the not too distant future too.
