Building a chassis
I am going to start the detail design of my electric drive reverse trike chassis shortly (due to too many unpaid days off work coming up in April) and I am in two minds about the material choice.
I could do a simple ladder chassis with 50x50mm square tube, a space frame with 25x25mm square tube. Easy construction as the tube is square.
Or I can do similar but with round tube and a pipe bender (which I would need to buy).
I am aiming for light weight and stiff.
What are your views on the options?
The trike will be sort of Morgan three wheeler in style and size with 160kg of lithium batteries at the front between MGB wishbones and 110kg of electric motor at the back with a single sided swing arm and chain drive to the rear wheel.
Cheers.
