I love it when a vision becomes a reality. Well done. It looks great.

Scottie - Well done mate and I'm glad you are happy with the end result.
You car will certainly turn a few heads when it is finished.
Good luck, Paul.

There is so much left to do Gary, that it does not really matter what I do as long as I do something!
To be honest, I'm not sure what I want to do next, but I'll pick a job and get stuck in soon.

Just don't forget to fit the screen wash too. I was less than impressed to discover mine is leaking again today.
The low sun and road spray really didn't help

Today
Like most people, I like to do my welding outside, but it can only be done in good weather. Well, that's not strictly true, but its more fun in the sun.
Today was a good day, so I went for it. Windscreen back off the car and more welding to it.
It is stronger now, and will need much less filler, both good plus points.

Also today
When I fitted the hood brackets, it was more to see if that was a viable solution to fitting the hood.
As it turned out, it will work, so I set about refining them a bit.
They needed to be more precisely engineered to fit, so they did not
protrude into the (tiny) cabin space, or dig into my shoulder.
I took them out, heated them with the welding torch, and shaped them to fit more snugly, and cut a small slot in the body to make them even more neat.
I think it was worth the effort.

Looking good Scottie. The screen surround is nearly there

surround
Yes I think it is,
unfortunately, even if I could make the Spitfire front hood fastening fit, which I am thinking is NOT do-able, it would not look right.
The screen when the hood is down, must look elegant, and with the Spit front on it won't.
I will make it look elegant, but I will be looking for some other, more simple way of attaching the hood I think.

Hood
Neatest hood style would be a torneau cover, unless you are worried about a little bit of wind or rain, it wont spoil the lines and is unobtrusive.

Hood
I really would like to use the car the whole year round and a tonneau
cover is not really what I want.
I once had a 7 type car with no roof at all, and I've done the
rain-in- your- face bit, and kind of moved in since then.
I will eventually make what I want, but my priority is to try to finish the build
with everything done perhaps except the roof, then that will follow on later.
I appreciate your input though!

Its Ok, it was meant with sarcasm, here we are suffering with some serious heat, and yes , I spent many years in cold weather with no roof and sidepipes, hence the lack of hair and hearing! Having said that I am loving the inginuity and 'its not a major problem' that I see.

I don't know what you had in mind for the wiper assembly but I have just removed an assembly from a Corsa C to seal a water leak. The whole assembly is held on with 2 bolts, it includes everything including the motor, I think it would be ideal for you. They are very plentiful and cheap on Ebay, I would suggest that you look for a breaker and ask for the wiring plug to be included along with 6" of the wiring loom. The whole assembly is only about 18" wide and is very compact.

Thanks for that Jag,
I was intending to use the Spitfire ones which came with the car, I already have had to buy two new wheelboxes, as the others had corroded away, and the threads had gone.
If that route fails, I will definitely have a look at the Corsa ones
