Change of plans, I won't be at the Bedford show tommorow afterall.
My pre-MOT check on my Rover revealed paper thin brake pads on the back so that's my Sunday morning sorted!

You didn't miss very much. It wasn't very well attended and it was very dusty! The access road was also very poor - both front wings had come loose by the time I got to the actual venue! I probably won't go again.

However there were a few intesting cars including a very nice pre-war supercharged MG K3...

Well that's a real shame, it looked really good on the advertising?
Also, bad news that your wings have come loose again.

Has anyone got pictures of that black Sportster at Stoneleigh? (It's the one with the funny half hard top) From a very small picture i've seen it looks like the guy has fixed his wings to the chassis
Maybe Mike has some pictures as I know he was there with his camera on Sunday when we arrived?

Sorry I do not have any photos of the Black Sportster. I think it was one of the earlier Ford based Sportsters, so it probably wouldn't help anyway?

I went to the Classics on the Common event yesterday. Great event if you are also into your classic cars, exotics etc. - just about anything on 2, 3 or 4 wheels. Considering it is run as a charity event by the local Round Table it has to be one of the best events I have been to.

OK - so its not an option for meeting up this year as it has already gone, but perhaps next year?

Hi Chaps
I'm going to this (weather premitting) http://www.pooleview.co.uk/CarQuay.htm

Wander up and down the sea front, look at other cars and have a bag of chips.

Hi Robin,

It was good to meet you at Classics on the Common and your car looked great. I hope you made it back ok before the evening showers ?!

As you know, Classics on the Common is a great event and has a really good range of cars. It's very popular and you need to book plenty of time in advance to avoid disappointment.

I'm planning on attending next year too.

Regards

Simon

Unfortunately not. I left it too late to leave by which time there was a big queue. The sky opened while I was waiting....

Not all bad though - I followed the lead of the three wheeler in front of me and sat there in the car with my large brolly up.

I too will be returning next year. I think I'll get there a little earlier though - there were so many cars I didn't get time to look at them all. Perhaps we could get together a small Marlin contingent next year....

I checked with the Ace Cafe and they are no longer having a Kit Car themed day this year. They said they might do one next year!!

Apologies if anyone was planning to come to this event.

Is anyone going to the Kit Car show at Stafford w/e 18/19 September. I missed Stonleigh this year as I was still putting the car back together after painting so I thought I might go to this one instead. Has anyone else been before - if so what is it like? (IE is it worth going!)

Cheers

Robin

Hi Robin,
I went once many years ago before I had even chosen the Marlin and trying to make up my mind which cars I liked. (So probably in ~2002!)

Or short answer - no idea!

The Stafford show was reborn in (I think) 2008 and is now the pet cause of Den Tanner (of Pilgrim). The show is well written up in Kit Car magazine but then it would be as Den is also Publisher of the magazine. Having said all that, it looks to have a good following and I have considered the trip. However, Exeter is closer for me so I will probably go there in November.

Thanks Alfie. Not much to see in November then so October it is. I'm afraid I did not check before writing.

I had hoped to have car on the road for this show but I don't think it will happen now. I will still be going though.

Sorry Robin, I ignored your original question. I have never been to Stafford, so know nothing about it.

For the Uxbridge show is it just a case of turning up on the day - or do you have to book in advance?

Hi Robin,
it's too late to register but the website says....

Closing date for entrants - Monday July 11th 2011. No passes will be sent to entrants whose entry forms are received after Monday July 11th 2011. Entrants arriving on the day without passes will be charged £10 per car inclusive of occupants. For administrative reasons, we regret that no entries in the Concours sections can be accepted after Monday July 11th 2011.

So I think you can just turn up...
