250SWB on a Miata
Despite the 7 inch difference in wheelbase, would it be feasible to do a Tribute 250SWB on a Miata?
Thoughts...

Simpson Design Italian 3 SWB - it's already done. Doesn't look anywhere near as good as Tribute although body quality is far, far superior (and also more costly)

At $95,000 and ugly. Turnkey on your Miata only.
I don't mind a bit of work either. Only problem is I would have to import a kit to the USA. I would consider it if possible.

Bearing in mind wheelbase, door size/shape and windscreen height/shape how do you think Tribute are going to make it so much better?
Why the aversion to Z3?

A decent condition Z-3 here, high mileage is around $10K +
Miata's in similar condition are about $3K. Engine rebuild for the Miata $1.5K
Besides, I like them better.
Just curious if it could be done is all. May wind up importing the SWB kit in the end (for the Z3).
Appreciate the feedback Smash!

FYI, the Widow SPR-1 has a USA website now, not crazy about the
styling though, just another possibility for a unique Miata here.
Bodies are made in Latvia and customer responsible for shipping & duties. I really do prefer he Tribute MX250 (as Andreas has done)
and my favorite, the 250SWB.

What I was trying to say - rather clumsily - is that Jim Simpson is really good at getting a balanced shape and design. So if you think what he's produced is ugly it's difficult to see what anyone else could do to make it look a massive amount better or close to as good as the Z3 version.
What about a write off z3 like Nubodi recently bought to save money - not sure what the rules are where you are?

I did understand your comments about the Simpson Design. Far too
costly.
I also could fabricate a bespoke tube chassis here without issue (no IVA, etc.). Florida is kit car friendly.
Looking once again into the Z3's.
Thanks..

To fit a 250SWB coupe body on the Miata is where I wish to go.
No big hurry, I'm only 71 yrs old!
I can have a go at a tube frame here, no problems with registration.

$95,000.00 is all I have to say! The Simpson is very well done, but
for that price it is one expensive Miata. Turnkey only.

Don't know where you are in the states but 2.8 z3s are $5000 for a decent one around here... You can buy a clean title one with body damage for less too.

It is part of the 250SWB kit you get as standard.

That is very pretty, but hasn't the screen been chopped? That'd mean the dreaded IVA over here.
At $95,000 it's awfully expensive too, that's about the same as an F Type Jag which is rather a good car...
