Yeah the powder coat is not good. I had done the same as you Chris on the front part of the chassis but when I got to strip out the back it would have taken weeks to bottom it out.

Interestingly the powder coat company I am going to use who are local to me say in their spec they shot blast, chemicaly clean, paint with zinc etch primer and then powder coat, they have a good reputation and do chassis work for Ginetta.

I can't see any sign of a zinc primer coat or any other type of primer on the original powder coat, it looks like the powder coat is straight onto the metal.

Maybe thats the problem?

You can get IVA approved instrument bezels or recess them a bit into the dashboard if possible.

But I'm particularly interested in the last point about the windscreen....

In the version 7.01 of the IVA manual on page 13 it states....

45 Safety glass
Exemption end date : 29/04/2013

Glass that with complies with British Standard: BS857 or BS857/2,
BS5282, BSAU178 and is marked accordingly will be considered
acceptable for the purpose of IVA.

Amateur
built
vehicles
only

Did you submit the vehicle as Amateur built?
Does the windscreen have any of these markings?
Back to the subject......
