Has any builder of the e30 chassis been supplied with some aluminium box section to close the area between the front of the fuel tank and the main member behind seats I have seen it on marlin build cd pic 53.Cheers

Nope, i think the general idea is that people make a floor out of marine ply or similar that covers all of the area off from the inside of the car

I thinking of trying to make the boot floor out of ali but that will certainly be a challenge!

Hi,

Patrick is right.

Marlin told me that they don't make this bit.

I used a bit of 10mm ply to produce a piece of plywood that slopes into the boot space.

15-30 mins.

I've then used 'Rivnuts' to secure this to the lattice tubes over the diff area.

A friend who built his kit plane has used a solution called fibreboard for closing off areas and also for the dash.It is fim plastic covered on both side by 1mm aluminium, comes in various depths and is easy to cut and work with.Think it is used to make signs etc.

Looking at the CD it certainly looks like they should be standard parts? But I agree I can't find them listed anywhere. Funny how Marlin make some of the parts but not all of them.
A paper template of the plywood boot floor would be really useful as well

I'll drop Terry a line...

I dropped an email to Terry at Marlin. She says that 'yes they can supply this part' and she is going to get Mark to price it up.
No luck with the template for the boot floor.

Spoke to terry also, and have e-mailed the picture;I suspect it was made for an e36 chassis, but should be easy for e30.I suspect I have seen similar covering outside wall mounted water pipes.

I got an email back from Terry today.

She has quoted me £30 plus VAT for a galvanised steel cover.

That doesnt seem too bad,if it is made to fit the chassis with no modification,but is more expensive than the 3/4 inch exterior ply that I got today!Was there any mention of time taken to fabricate and send this out?

No, I din't ask that. I've just ordered my Stage 3 kit and have added it to that order.
