Great pics Paul. Glad you got to enjoy Goodwood.

Oh and well persevered with the handbrake gaiter. It looks just right

I'd do a proper round up of replies after I manage to get all the Goodwood photos sorted out and posted.

I'll start with a lovely pair of Porsche 718s to help inspire Mister Towed's Speedster's build.

Didn't really have the time to have a proper look around all the planes on display.

But I did manage to catch one of the displays with a Spitfire and two Mustangs.

Some Aston Martin greens for Barber's NOT an AM Z3gato build.

For the Tribute builders next door, a 'pit' of Cobras.
( See what I did there? )

Isn't it just a wonder hanging out in the paddock!

I'm still working my way through the photos and I haven't really started on the GoPro footage yet.

But here are a few more…

The Italian Job
There was a collection of iconic vehicles from the film.

A thing of beauty.

Cars go here.

People go here.

I have a video clip of these firing up and boy are they LOUD!

Tribute Owners Club
I had to keep reminding myself that these cars were NOT from this forum.

Lucky's old car also showed up.

Volunteering
I was given three afternoon shifts at the gate between the pedal car paddock and the 'real' paddock.

The laminate list on the left of the photo above shows all the passes that will NOT let you into the pits.

The range of people we turned away went from the completely innocent to the active fraudsters.
( One grey haired old man had folded his 2016 pass so you couldn't see the date! )

There were over 70 Austin J40 pedals cars lined up and they were very popular.

I really liked this mustard yellow one.

Plus the matching car covers looked the part too.

Here are just two examples where the parents were also racing drivers at Goodwood.

They raced on Saturday and Sunday morning and the crowd really cheered them on.

With Jackie Stewart waving the chequered flag at the finish line.

Later on, I saw that Jackie had signed a few of the drivers' racing overalls too.

Staff Pass
Don't get me wrong, there is definitely no such thing as a free lunch, as volunteering was bloody hard work.
( Especially, as the sun was on the back of my neck for all three of my shifts, which involved standing for up to 7 hours. )

However, once I started to get the hang of where I could go, I did turn up in a variety of interesting places.

Staff could get a cheap breakfast in a hidden area behind one of the TV screens that were HUGE!

This was the pre-race assembly area.

I thought I'd found the perfect track side viewing spot...

But this area had to be cleared before each of the races started.

So, I moved upstairs, next to the time keepers hut, a few feet from the finish line.

This gave me a great view of the start of the day.

Each race was formally announced.

The 'Lollipop Ladies' were below me.

Looking back, I could also see down into the assembly area.

I assume this building on the other side of the track was for Corporate Hospitality, but what a great view.

This 'butler' was carrying a box of cigars, which were handed out to the top three drivers in each race.

I had a great view of the grid and noticed this car had a couple of panels missing.
( The mechanics were still working on it as it arrived on the grid. )

Note:
You can see where the gear lever is tucked into the side, by the driver's leg.

Racing
To save my legs, I didn't fancy walking any great distance to get a better view of the racing.

Plus my spot near the start/finish line was also in shade and I had a seat.

So here are a few grid shots...

Unfortunately, most of my action shots looked like this.
( Or variations of flowers with just the nose, or tail, of a car in the shot. )

So here are a few where some cars/bikes actually found their way into the frame…

Name dropping
Obviously, Lord March was there.

Paddy Hopkirk & his car were part of the big celebration of all things Mini.

Billy Monger was driving a specially adapted Mini in the parade.

Derek Bell was one of many racing drivers giving guided tours around the pits.

Dario Franchitti was one of the best dressed men there.

Which was a more impressive fact given that he was also in multiple races over the weekend.

Here he is on the left, in his racing gear, as his Porsche was being pushed back to the pits.

That's all the photos for now and I'll post my replies when I've finished the updates.

Cheers, Paul.

Final photo round up...
I loved the colour of this one.
( Plus the shiny parts too. )

A big beast.

While this car cover was clearly custom made...

This Ferrari one seemed more elegant.

Low & Loud.

Various odds & ends

The sheer variety of cars was amazing and their value was staggering!

Looks like I will end up with three GoPro videos:
- Open Paddock Walk
- Restricted Paddock Walk
- Start/Finish Line Action

Once I've finished them and uploaded them to You Tube, I post some links.

Cheers, Paul.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

Love the outfit by the way.

Molleur, Dave P & Froggyman – A belated cheers gentlemen.

I’d heard a lot about the Goodwood Revival, both on this forum and on TV.

But nothing really prepares you for just how big an event it actually is.

If my car ends up being sold before next year’s event, at least I looked the part this time.

Cheers, Paul.
