Lots of photos about the interior please. I will be doing mine soon too. Please share any ideas, including the ones you reject and any tips or tricks you discover.
Great news on the MOT

Will do, im picking it up tomorow from the garage after geting it insured today. £168 fully comp with adrian flux. not bad at all!. ive never really seen insurance under a grand yet with a the cars ive had and bein under 25. turned 25 last month so can now officially have 'kit car insurance'!
as reguards to interior, ive stripped my center console section out and plan on cutting the gear stick as low as possible, drilling and tapping it and putting a nice long and thin rod in with a gear nob on top and geting a chrome 'H' gate mate up.
ive striped all the heating and aircon controlls etc out and just have the dial switch that puts on hot air onto the windscreen and foot well.
the air vents on the dash will be fibreglassed in and ive relocated my cd player in the glove box. il b messing about with it over the next few weeks but ive just moved house this weekend and my new house doesnt have a garage! school boy error realy!

Had a drive a round today, got a lot off looks, points and pictures taken. I also got pulled over by a nice police man doing a 'routine check' load off bollocks i know but i had to play along as it has a black n silver rear number plate! he was more interested in how id built the car than to give me a ticket!

Hmm are 'racing numbers' legal on the road - or do that have to have a 'strike through'?

I thought it was the race organisation that banned its members from displaying their race numbers when not competing rather than plod. In the olden days the local plod were normally involved in helping events so they nicked people with numbers to be safe.
The idea was that if a racer committed an offence on the road they would be penalised in the event but Joe Public would be left alone, If Joe Public had race numbers showing when they got nicked then some poor random on the competition might get penalised.
Sort of an urban myth about being illegal as I understand but perhaps MrTowed (our friendly traffic plod) can clarify

The racing numbers thing was actually covered half way down Mister Towed's "On the road" thread here.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...ead.php?t=4482
Basically there is no problem with a road car displaying racing numbers.
Danny - Your car looks great.
And I love the story of how your children picked the number.
Enjoy it, Paul.

The police man didnt seem bothed about the racing numbers and didnt notice the illegal plate on the back. I think I got pulled as im a young lad driving around in Hartlepool in what he thought was a car worth mega money. (thers not many ferraris in hartlepool! like not even 1!)
I dont think he was a traffic bobby just more of a nosey 1!
Chris, that was my inspiration to build it!
Its seems wierd looking at this
to this
Im thinking a DB4 next...

Horn fitting didnt go as planned as it was about 4mm out! after modifying the origional horn and sticker flexing the new new 'ferr@ri' horn into the holder. im now waiting for it to set and will fit tomorow. I also had a mess about with the interior and added some expanding foam in the void and started filling in the rear parcel shelf with kingspan foam ready to carpet....

Hi Danny, loving the car. I'm keeping a mental note of the companies you've used locally as I'm from just up the road from you in Horden, although I live in Selby now.
Any chance of you spilling the beans on the price of the local work done, especially the paint?

It was close to the £2k mark but that was a lot of prep work and a repair on the rear as it was damaged on delivery . and if it was a change of colour.
Only my opinion but id say it was worth every penny (obviously!) ive seen a few kit cars where lads have spent a long time working on them then to be spoilt with a bad spray job,

2k just for paint and prep? That's top dollar mind, but it does look the dog's.

2k ain't far from the mark. Ask around off a primer up paint job on a glass fibre body
