That was really good, that car really did look like it came from the 50's. I like seeing all the switchgear, and the aluminium panels... And the exhaust!!! Lots of ideas.

Lots going on! Hoping to get started on fitting my frame next weekend, one point is this a Sammio or a Ribble? BTW love the hole punch :-)
|
Thanks viatron !
It's a SAMMIO CHEVAUX indeed, maybe number 2 or 3. RIBBLE is the new name of the company since january 2013. |
Great work , looks very smart :hail:
|
Looking good - will it look a little like this one (at Stoneleigh this year) ?
I thought the exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheel was well executed. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1a67b1b0.jpg |
Yesterday evening :
For a test, I've put my frame on the chassis. I will buy wood today and I wanted to know the quantity of wood. http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio46.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio47.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio52.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio48.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio49.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio50.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio51.jpg |
One sheet of plywood, 2440x1220x9mm (shuttering ply is fine), is enough to line the inside of the cockpit. I used glass fibre to finish off the curved rear corners, but the designer cut triangular wooden fillets and bonded them in.
http://www.sammio.co.uk/Gettingstarted.aspx Looking very nice now by the way, you'll have a car to be proud of in no time. :) |
Thanks Mr T for your response.
In fact I need also wood to buit my luggage's compartment so I've bought one sheet of plywood but in 3100*1530*12mm. |
Would aluminium sheet not be lighter to use, would help to keep the weight low and would stiffen your frame if rivuted on. Great work so far by the way :)
|
Aluminium has a lot of advantages when lining the cabin but is very expensive and i would imagin takes a lot longer to do, so i can understand why most opt for using wood.
My tub is aluminium and bonded/riveted which definitely gives the car a solid feel. |
Others pictures !
It's not very easy to cut all the parts in wood at the good size but with a litle time its 'done : Back sides : http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio53.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio54.jpg And with the two side panels : http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio55.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio56.jpg Back view : http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio57.jpg a clean garage isn't it ? http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio59.jpg http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/18/02/43/65/sammio58.jpg This week, I will paint the frame. |

Looking good Zeb !
Have you thought about fitting the more powerful 1.2 boxer out of a gs clubman citreon. Would be a nice power plant for this low weight body. Also what car do the lights come from, they are a nice scale for the car. Keep up the good work .:icon_razz: |
Thanks Mikmiglia.
In fact I have hesitated a long time between the 2cv motor and the GS Motor (GS motor is the same than the AMI SUPER motor) but I wanted to built the car the much closer to registration papers of the car. So I 've keep the original 2cv motor. I don't want to race with the car, only for pleasure and I like to take the time. My lights come from CITROEN Ami6 or CITROEN DS estate. |
Sebastien - Your build is coming together very nicely.
Bon chance, Paul. :) |
good news :
All the wood panels are done and the body is fixed at the frame. I've to work on the bonnet now, not very easy to do ! I've done a lot of pictures during my holidays, I'will put them as soon as possible ! |
