We do have a 356 shell and were thinking about various base cars, TT is most likely.....
Although I think the Boxter is the best bet for a Speedster replica the Audi TT could be also be used for this type of type project.

And if you use an Audi TT Coupe (base model) you could create a sort of 356 Silver Bullet style. These were the Porsche 356C Hot Rod racers.

In my opinion it would look better and would be a lot cheaper than the French PGO Hemera. (Peugeot running gear and a 37,000 Eur. price tag)

Underneath their doofy sheetmetal, the PGO Cevennes and Hemera actually have what appears to be decent hardware, including mid-mounted, 181-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines from the BMW Group. (So, the previous-generation Mini Cooper S engine.)

My only issue with a TT as the base for a Speedster is the cooling situation. As the TT is front engined it's going to require a fair sized radiator grille that would probably look weird on a Speedster looking replica. Obviously a porker boxster wouldn't have such an issue here but would still require side vents.

Very Andy, I agree with you about the cooling issue. But maybe adding a few extra cooling grills just like the original Porsche Silver Bullet might just work.

Yes i know awful idea but if you simplified the lines of the front how would a lotus exige front look on a Ferrari 250 swb from the side. From the a pillar.

If you could rearrange the front to represent the overhang of an mx5 that might stretch the wheelbase a bit to help with proportions. Thanks if possible. If don't ask never will know. Plus i think the lotus front sits a bit lower as to say its a different proportion to say how it would look sat beside a swb. Tried sketching it but allways comes out like a Porsche panamera with curvier back end

Looks a bit Alpine A110 meets Alfa 4C and has unwanted love child to me.

zagmad 20th June 2015 15:13

I was looking at the origins of the design of the mx5 and what inspired it. I came up with what looked like the lotus élan 1962. The indicators were on the corners of the front wings and pop up lights. Then as you do,how would i replicate that to appeal today. Eg mx5 as donor lotus élan 1962 bonnet with Elise headlights keeps all the bulbs in one neat light unit. Its what i do to relax .

zagmad 20th June 2015 15:19

Don't get me wrong i do like the mx5 but it lacks character and style plus not a fan of pop up lights. Not saying Chris should do this but as we're looking at donors for rebody projects. How would a classic beetle look with new body panels.

A classic Beetle with new bodypanels.......

What i meant was. If u keep the same roof line with Porsche front and back panels like a rebody. Top eg roof don't change. Less you chop the roof like a hot rod . Most people do 6 inch drop.
