It's easy enough to check pull up and down on the top wish bone, if there any movement you will see / hear it :)...

Turns out my upper ball joint was knackered as well. There about 1/2mm movement in there so I've order a new one off eBay £2.95 + £3 shipping - got a spare one too.

I'm not sure if its down to manufacturing issues but I would have run the tube as one piece all the way round and stuck the ball joint inside of it. Maybe there's not enough room to do that or...

That's great thank you :D I think Mark mentioned the metal the ball joint sits in on my design is 4mm, the bars also come further forward so it must be quite a bit stronger :)
