I bought mine in 1982 and it was £800. Needed a loan too and the insurance 3rd party F and F was half the price of the car :(

Oh and the Z3 filler looks neat too. I went that way with mine due to lack of experience and not wanting to use a big old filler. They keep the lines of the car clean...
