After I had a bare metal respray on my E-type, I just couldn't bring myself to fit the stick on front number plate, I just knew it would go on wonky with bubbles underneath. I ended up with a magnetic vinyl front number plate, only problem was that when you picked up speed it would slide up the bonnet until it hit the bonnet bulge, then it would fly off never to be seen again.
I had a few made but in the end just kept one on the passenger seat and ran with no front number plate. Never got a tug for it and I used it as my everyday car commuting from Hemel to Windsor.

Lol just got an image of your number plate flying away

Yeah I had a Stag for years with no number plate attached. Instead I had it on the passenger sun visor on two rubber bands, to flip down when needed. Never got a tug

Did you develop the Stag squint?

Where one eye looks forward and the other eye is always on the temperature gauge?

When I bought my Noble P4 I didn't notice it had no front number plate for at least a month!
