I have found with yellow paint you need lots of coats as the pigment isn't very strong unlike dark colours. Keep at it even if you need more coats.

Looking real good
The yellow looks like a Ferrari colour.
Oh I forgot yellow paint attracts insects, they come from miles just to intergrate themselves into your wet coat.
I found big ones can be pulled out of the paint when its hard and the smaller ones were cut and polished out

Today's top tip: If there is likely to be a cloud burst shut the garage door. The heavens opened as I was painting the front of the car and by the time I got to the back the soft paint was wet and covered in crap which had kicked up off the drive way.
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
Ah well, I'm going to leave it to dry under a heat lamp tonight and see what the damage is tomorrow.

Bummer!
Don't get that heat lamp too close...
If you are lucky, the paint may have flashed off enough to prevent
major contamination.

So today was spent putting the beastie back together. Apart from the door handles and light covers, it's now reconstructed.

For those thinking of trying rollering this is what the lemon peel looks like.

But to show you how well it cuts back here's a comparison of the front wing compared to the bonnet I have cut back.

It will be well worth flatting it all down.
Shows what can be done a tight budget.

On the road, took it to work today. I'm going to leave it a few weeks before even thinking about flatting it back. I also need to invest in a polisher and some different compounds.

If, like me, Photoshop is a mystery but you have kids with a PS4 or X-Box with a game like Gran Turismo you can by a 250GTO, Cobra or 250 SWB and then play with different colours and put stripes and badges on it to see what works best.
My son played around with a 250LM for me last night and I have decided on a white and black stripe along the length of the car to break up the yellow.

Modern programmes make life much easier don't they ? When I started out customizing cars , I used to cut up photos and glue back together ! Still have the pics from experimenting with roof chopping my old Chevy ...
I use a website called www.busselecta.com , its a VW Bus and Beetle site primarily but has a section for modifying Porsches too and the 550 option is close enough to a Sammio for me to play with colours etc...

As an impatient man I decided to flat back the boot.
[IMG] [/IMG]
And then gave it a polish.

I think you can see the how well the orange peel can be cut back. It is isn't, by any means, a concours finish but it doesn't look too bad. Just the rest of the car to flat back now :-(

Couple of hours, but it is a big, flat panel so not too difficult to do.

I know I have said it already but that hardtop solution looks good. Great effort
