Tiny bit of advice on wheels...
Hiya all..
Just wanted to share my experiences with you so that hopefully you don't go through the same mess...
As I'm sure most of you will or have done, I bought some nice alloy wheels.. I told the supplier that they are going on a Rover 200 and all seemed well... Until I put them on the car and realised that they are sticking out too much (end result being that as I drive over a bump the wing scrapes against the tyre - especially the front wheels).
So I did a bit of research and apparently the standard Rover 200 spec is 6x15, 4x100 with an ET45 offset.
If you phone up an average alloy wheel dealer they will look in their books and sell you 7x15, 4x100, ET35 offset (as alledgedly this fits ok on a rover 200 - but not on 5EXI!!).
Now, finding anyone to supply 6x15 with offset of 45 is almost impossible so I had to settle for 6x15 with ET40 which is just about ok (although you may need to lose about 2mm from the inside of the 'lip' under the wing).
So.. moral of the story is - if you are buying replacement alloys and don't want to waste £400 or so be careful what they sell you! Make sure you talk wheel spec as opposed to 'which car is it for sir?'
Hope this helps...
Regards to all...
Dylan
p.s. also, if you weigh anything like me (106kg) and if your passenger weighs anything similar (say 90kg or more) you definitely want to think about putting some stiffer springs on the car... I'm just waiting for some stiffer front springs - will let you know how they behave...
