Best of luck with the 13" wheels, I'd planned to use them myself with 175/80/13 tyres, white walls and dummy spinners for a Dunlop racing wheel on the cheap look.

Thanks T, quite a lot to make up... i suppose 80 is the largest sidewall you can get? at that size.

Yep, but that will give you a slightly taller combination than I have with my 175/70/14's which don't look too shabby imho -
My original plan was to use full band white wall trims (rather than the stripe type) to fool the eye into seeing a bigger wheel than was actually there, and bolt a set of dummy spinners onto Spitfire centre caps to give the impression of a knock on racing wheel -

I think you might also need a set of spacers to push the wheels out closer to the edges of the wheel arches as the Herald wheels fitted to the French car on the early thread look too far inset to my eye.
Oh, and just in case you haven't seen the wheel/tyre size calculator, here's a link -

Good luck!

Ive been working on the car between showers this week and although I still have some tidying up to do, I just could not help taking it out for a shakedown drive with the weather looking so nice.
I have a short video but its taking forever to upload so will leave it running and post it later as the sun is still shining so Im taking my wife out for lunch in the Sammio!

Commenting on the size of another man's 'lunchbox'....erm.....
The car looks awesome mate - hopefully the weather is nice at the weekend and you bring her to Liverpool, you could get some great shots of the car there!

I have had lots of fun today, so much fun that taking the wife out for lunch turned into a quick sandwich at a country pub so that I could get back to the car.
I still have some work to do finishing the car off but nothing major, just a tidy up, a little more of the interior trim and fixing of faults like intermitant temp gauge. The engine cut out suddenly this evening and I quickly traced the fault back to fuel not getting through to the carb. I stripped down the fuel pump and cleaned it up and all seems to be fine now but with the weather looking crap tomorrow I put the car to bed.

I cant lie Mister Towed, it was a LOT of fun! It all comes together very quickly once the body is ready to go on so im sure that you will be there in no time.

Yep, my build's been pretty slow because I'm a bit of a detail freak and I wanted everything under the surface to be as good as I could possibly make it. I sometimes wish I'd spent a couple of grand on a road ready donor but then I'd have missed out on learning to sand-blast and weld.
Once I've got my engine fired up again all that's left is to install the methanol injection, 'glass and bond the body on, DVLA inspection, paint, MOT and trim to taste. I'm hoping that will be early June...
Looking at the pictures I've taken today, a year ago I wouldn't have believed I could have welded up a rotten chassis, fabricated a fuel tank carrier and made my own fibreglass floor-pans and have them turn out as good as they have. This project was meant to revive and stretch my engineering skills and it's sure done that! I can't thank Gary J enough for having the vision to put such a challenging 'kit' together for those of us who are a bit left field in our views of the kit car world.
Seeing cars like yours on the road gives those of us who're still building ours a real shot in the arm to carry on so thanks for posting the video and well done!
